I believe that
it is important that you develop self-awareness. It is the first,
and the most important step in developing self-acceptance. If therapy
is to succeed, it is important that we take an honest look at ourselves.
How long it takes to achieve one's goals, depends upon the person
and the nature of the issues involved. Together, we will work toward
your achieving your goals, and to no longer need counseling. I will
support you along the way, and will always respect you and accept
you unconditionally.
It is in your best interest that our relationship be professional
and not personal. Our sessions should focus on your issues and not
mine. From time to time I might share information about my personal
life, if it will be helpful to you.
I do not adhere to any one particular psychological theory. The
approach I use depends upon the client and the nature of the difficulties
the client is experiencing. I encourage clients to join me in exploring
their experiences and feelings. What we discuss will be mostly your
agenda, not mine.
Although I counsel from a spiritual perspective, I will not challenge
or attempt to influence you to change your views or beliefs.
